Put Color On Those Walls With Movie Posters
Movies are such a large part of our lives. With hundreds of channels piped into every home television, movie theaters in each town, and stores where you can readily rent the latest flick, you never have to go too far to find a decent way to spend your next two hours. We watch movies on our own to entertain us. We watch them on dates. We watch them as a family. It’s engrained into our very culture these days.
So, why not take some of the characters and films we have grown to love and bring them into our lives in a different way? Especially since some of the art associated with them is great for adding color and life to bare walls. Do you have a movie poster anywhere in your home? If not, then you should definitely look into what’s available.
I have heard the argument that movie posters are too common. But I don’t find this to be true at all. That is like saying that you wouldn’t hang up a Picasso because 20th century artists are too common. With hundreds of thousands of movies out there, surely there is enough diversity so that we can all hang a few pieces up without copying each other. Especially since there are quite a few different ways to go about anything. Decorating with movie posters is no exception.
Personally, I have hung movie posters up everywhere in my home. It is my theme throughout the whole place. If you love movies as much as I do, that is one way to go about it. I have many of my favorites on display. There’s “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “American Beauty,” “Shop Girl,” and “As Good As It Gets,” just to name a few. I have many posters of movies that I love on display in every room. It’s an eclectic mix!
If you don’t necessarily want to have them all over the place, you could always take a minimalist approach by choosing your favorite flick and just putting that poster up. Doing it this way tends to draw the eye more towards the particular piece of art as it is the only thing on a stark wall. I have always had a problem picking just one though. I have enjoyed so many!
Yet another way to go is to only put up posters in a certain genre. Let’s say that you really love horror movies. Even though most of us have particular tastes, we can still readily name the films that we enjoy in almost any vein. But instead of following your instinct to have representations of all of these up, you could have a distinct horror theme running through your home.
If you’re the type of person who likes to keep things changing, we can even expand on the last idea to accommodate that beautifully. What you can do is change all your movie posters according to the month, the season, the holiday, or whatever impetus you want to use. Imagine a wall full of romance movies in June, changed to horror movies in October, and Christmas movies in December. It’s a fun way to be festive and keep things interesting at the same time.
There are many ways in which you can decorate with movie posters. Just use a little bit of imagination and they can really add something special to any room or to your entire home.
